Report: Facebook Testing Auto-Play Videos With Sound
Slacking off on Facebook when you're supposed to be working? The social network might inadvertently give you away. This is because as yous roll through your news feed, those videos that automatically, just silently, play may presently take sound.
Mashable reported that Facebook is currently testing "how users react to autoplay video in their newsfeeds. With sound."
Of course, it's not just those delicious-looking Tasty videos that will now automatically play with sound—Mashable revealed that Facebook is testing this change with all types of videos—including Live broadcasts and advertisements.
As the study shared, Facebook is merely testing this with a 'small' subset of mobile users in Australia at this point. At that place's no word as to whether US users volition eventually be subjected to this also.
Those included in this trial "can cull whether they desire to sentinel videos with sound on from the beginning," a Facebook spokesperson told Mashable. "For people in this examination who do non want sound to play, they can switch it off in Settings or directly on the video itself." The spokesperson added that this is just "one of several tests" the company is running to "ameliorate the video feel for people on Facebook."
Facebook has been auto-playing videos in news feeds since 2022. Still, the videos have ever been muted past default, with the pick to tap them for sound and to watch in total screen.
